About Paul Dennis
The ever so famous Dunham Forest Golf Club was originally used by the US army and as an Italian prisoner of war camp. Hard to believe it was a collection of huts when you play around 90 acres of beautiful greenery.
In 2015, Paul Dennis became the Head Golf Professional, after being the resident PGA Professional since January 2001.
He became a member of the PGA following a very successful amateur career representing his county at all levels. As an excellent golf instructor, Paul is a big hit with all the members at Dunham Forest. Paul is always ready to help with advice, lessons and maintains a state-of-the-art Tee2Green Golf Academy and superbly manicured course.
Paul offers tuition lessons on one of Cheshire’s top ten golf courses, round a picturesque 18 holes. He also coaches in the Tee2Green academy, an all-weather facility which simulates 14 championship courses.
The facility has three bays, which all have GC2 launch monitors, the latest video technology, and allows you to play with friends, practise on a virtual driving range and can even be used to hold corporate team building events. It has been said by many members and visitors, that Pauls gifted tuition style makes improving any aspect of your game both fun and rewarding.
Paul also helps to maintain a stunning clubhouse and offers club fittings to players of all ages and abilities. The course considered by many to be one of the most beautiful parkland golf courses in the UK. With extremely well-conditioned greens, its rare the weather will hinder you from playing. This championship course is open throughout the year to put what you’ve learned from your professional golf lessons into practice.
“I have to be honest I’d never heard of Dunham Forest having played all of my amateur golf and the first few years as a Professional in the Midlands area.
When the Professional at the time in 2000, Ian Wrigley rang me to enquire whether I’d be interested in joining him, I didn’t hesitate in taking him up on his offer after visiting for the first time. Looking back at the time whilst Dunham was well known around the north, not least as the founders and hosts of the Dunham Forest Trophy, it was somewhat of a hidden gem.
Nearly 20 years later and over 5 years since I became head Professional, the secret is well and truly out with Dunham’s reputation going from strength to strength not only on the course but off it with the unique Tee2Green indoor 3 bay golf studio and the recently fully refurbished clubhouse.”
“The club is immensely proud of its history and traditions but also very forward-thinking and progressive to make sure Dunham continues to move with the ever-changing world.
The membership profile has changed significantly in the last 5 years with over 100 new members joining the club, many of them in the 25-45 age range which is becoming a difficult profile to attract in the industry.
There has perhaps been a perception that Dunham isn’t open for membership but whilst we will never flood the course with too many members as we believe a member should (and still can) be able to turn up to play without the need to book a time, we are very much open for membership. In fact, as the course plays so well in the winter months our winter membership thrives.”
Signature Hole
Hole 14. This par 5 is often thought of as Dunham’s signature
hole. Players who can hit a long draw gain the benefit of added run down the
hill making the hole in range. The beautiful setting of the two-tiered green
may not be appreciated after a wayward shot. Deep bunkers and dense undergrowth
can soon rack up a bogey or worse on this hole.
