First of all, how was last week for you at Portrush and the excitement in The Open going back to your home country?
It was very exciting, all the players loved it, the caddies loved it, the fans loved it, Portrush was buzzing, the whole town, and I think looking back on it we ended up with a very popular winner so all in all I think they were very pleased with the open week.
What’s your memories of Royal Lytham?
I’ve played quite nicely here in the past, whenever David Duval won, I played quite nicely that year. I think I managed to keep it out a lot of the bunkers, there’s a lot of them around here, so hopefully, I’ll do the same this week! Lytham’s a wonderful golf course and it demands a high degree of accuracy, probably more than most of the courses do. Especially off the tee, if you keep it out of those bunkers you should have a chance.
How does this rank in Open golf courses? I know you’re going to be biased with Portrush but how does Lytham rank?
All of them on The Open rota are the best courses that we have, but its right up near the top like all of them are.
How is the golf game looking for yourself?
Yeah not too bad, I played nicely last week apart from the last hole on Friday afternoon and that was bitterly disappointing but all in all I played quite nicely, so I have to keep working on it and hopefully come here and have a good week this week.
As the junior on the Senior Tour, are you going into this as one of the favourites?
I’ve got no idea! All I’m trying to do it hit the ball and get it into the holes and stay out those bunkers. The weather is set to be really nice so I’m looking forward to the week.
Have you enjoyed the Senior Tour, the ones that you’ve played?
Yeah I’ve played a lot over in America, It’s been great catching up with a lot of the guys that I played the main Tour with over there and then coming back here and seeing a lot of the guys I played European tour with so, its been a really enjoyable experience.
We spoke to Colin Montgomerie about a month ago, he said it’s a completely different experience the Senior Tour, it was more friendly, but the fire is still there when you start off tee one.
Yeah of course it is, we’re all professional sports people, we’ve competed all the way through our careers. Yes, it is a little bit more relaxed but at the end of the day you’re still trying to be that guy holding the trophy on Sunday afternoon
