Worksop Golf Club was founded in 1914. Playable throughout the entire year, the course is regarded as one of the outstanding courses of the area for both difficulty & quality. It has a long tradition of providing the base for world class golfers including Lee Westwood, Mark Foster, Maurice Bembridge, and David Snell.
Our club is situated on the outskirts of Worksop on the boundary of the National Trust’s Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest. The course measures 6,628 yards, par 72 for men and 5,928 yards, par 74 for ladies and is an excellent test of golf for any level of golfer. The superb natural sand and gravel sub soils for which Worksop is renowned allow golf to be played for 52 weeks a year on lovely, fast running fairways and tricky greens, in a mature woodland setting.
The challenges are not in our course’s length but in the tightness of the holes (many are lined with silver birch, gorse and bracken) so wielding the driver at every opportunity may not always be the wisest choice. The firm nature of the fairways means that you might find that a long iron or three-wood travels further than you might initially think.
