The golf course was designed in 1927 by Dr. Alister Mackenzie, who went on to design The Augusta National course (the home of “The US Masters” tournament) in Georgia USA, and several other prestigious courses worldwide. These include Alwoodley and Moortown Golf Clubs near Leeds, the Rosemount course in Blairgowrie, Perth, Scotland, Cypress Point, California and the West Course at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia.
Boughton Park is the setting for Worcester Golf & Country Club and the surrounding landscape provides an area of scenic beauty with wonderful views of the nearby Malvern Hills.
Boughton Park was formerly the home of a number of Mayors of Worcester City in the 18th and 19th centuries. Our Clubhouse is a grade II listed building with several lounges, with casual and lounge bars, and excellent catering and dining facilities. There are many specimen trees within our boundaries including several centuries old English Oaks, Corsican Pines, Redwood and Beech. Coupled with lakes and a brook, the course is both a pleasure to play and to enjoy.
The park land course, which is only a few minutes from Worcester City Centre measures 6251 yards and features long narrow greens which provide a good test of accuracy for golfers of all standards. Failure to hit the greens will definitely test the short game abilities.

Boughton Park Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1929. It now has 4 all-weather, floodlit courts, and 3 superb grass courts, which are maintained by the Golf Club Greenkeepers, and are regarded as some of the best grass courts in the County.
During the year, there are a number of mixed social tournaments, and a summer Club Tournament, usually run on a knockout basis. Junior membership has thrived over recent years, and many of our juniors now play in the club Teams. We also have link with the University of Worcester, and they have court access at certain times.
There is a thriving Tennis section, with play available for Men’s, Ladies, and Mixed teams in the Hereford and Worcester Summer and Winter Leagues. There is mixed social play on Club nights, and match practice on a Tuesday evening throughout the year.
