Stonyhurst Park Golf Club was formed in 1979, but the history of the golf course and its strong affiliation to Stonyhurst College date back to the 19th century when Walker Cup founder George Walker was a Philosophy student at the college.
The course is a 9 hole gem, glistening in the heart of the Ribble Valley and Bowland Forest. Picturesque views and tranquil surroundings make the perfect setting for a golf course. Well-tended fairways and greens combine with testing approach shots and natural hazards to make it a challenging test of golf for members and visitors alike.

The origins of Stonyhurst Park Golf Club are somewhat obscure. However, it is known that in 1890, George Walker, then studying philosophy at Stonyhurst College, decided he wanted to play golf and went out with a handful of markers for tees and greens and started hitting balls.
Leaving College he prospered, became President of the USA Golf Association, and presented the “Walker Cup” for Competition between amateurs from Great Britain and the USA.
The Swedish style clubhouse has full men and ladies changing and showering facilities. A cosy lounge with picturesque views over the golf course, is used to host club functions and events.
Soft drinks are available at the clubhouse and catering can be arranged for visiting parties and charitable events. However our choice of 19th hole for general refreshments is at the welcoming country pub, The Bayley Arms Hotel.
