Grange Fell Golf Club is a magnificent nine hole course set on the slopes above Grange Over Sands and Cartmel. The Club has some of the best views in South Lakeland and provides a fair but testing golf course which will suit all standards of golfer.
Round to the South, Morcambe and its changing bay of sea or sand with a diminutive Blackpool Tower just visible out on the edge of the Irish Sea on a clear day.
Panning round to the West and the acrobatic windmills in the sea off Walney Island and Barrow can be seen busy harvesting the wind.
Then further round there is the market town of Ulverston, birth place of Stan Laurel watched over by its Lighthouse like monument The Hoad.
Down below in the near valley, nestles the oh so pretty village of Cartmel with its famous sticky toffee pudding, racecourse and ancient priory.
Beyond in the distance the majestic fells and mountains of the English Lake District, Black Coombe, The Old Man of Coniston and The Windermere Valley rolling on into the heart of the Lakes.
The scenery alone is worth the visit the golf just makes it perfect!!!!!!!

The founder and originator of the club was A.B.Davy, the first Club Captain and President. Mr Davy arranged for a survey to be carried out and together with Dr. R.W.Mason, Mr O.H.Brown and Mr. J.N. Gedye planned the course as a testing alternative to the proposed flat course at Meathop Road, Grange Over Sands. This preserved the ruggedness and challenging nature similiar to the former Grange Golf Club which was situated on the hills above Cartmel below Wart Barrow Lane.
The Silverdale and former Grange professional Fred Robinson was approached and he was engaged to construct and lay out the course, work commenced in late 1950. Greens and tees were built up but by utilising the natural hazards of the slopes of the fell this provided a taxing and testing nine hole course.
